ABOUT BRIAN HENDERSON
500 hr Kripalu Yoga Teacher
200 hr Kripalu Meditation Teacher
E-RYT 500 Yoga Alliance
I truly love yoga. I love what it continues to do for my body, mind, and spirit, and how it helps people come home to themselves. That’s why I teach.
I trained at Kripalu, a renowned yoga and Ayurvedic center in Massachusetts whose lineage is rooted in compassion, self-acceptance, and deep inner awareness. My teaching blends breathwork (pranayama), postures (asana), and meditation (dhyana) in a way that is supportive, grounded, and real.
My classes are a judgement-free space. No pressure. No performance. No “push through.” Yoga isn’t about fixing you, because you aren’t broken. It’s about learning to listen, to soften, to build strength where it serves you, and to move through life with more ease.

New to Yoga?
WHAT TO AVOID -
Many people try yoga for the first time in a fast-moving group class, and end up feeling lost, self-conscious, or like they’re doing it “wrong.” This tough beginning can be very discouraging and it really doesn’t have to be that way.
A GREAT OPTION -
Private sessions are a beautiful way to start. You’ll learn the foundations: breath, alignment, modifications, common postures, and simple meditation practices, so you feel confident, safe, and connected to your own body. Most beginners feel solid and ready to step into studio classes after 8–10 private lessons.

Do You Already Practice Yoga?
Yoga is something you grow into for life and sometimes the best way forward is slowing down and going deeper. If you’d like to refine alignment, explore modifications, strengthen your breathwork, or deepen meditation and centering, a few private lessons can offer a fresh injection of clarity and trigger real progress, without forcing anything.
Private Lessons & Group Classes
Private lessons are typically 75 minutes and tailored to your needs and interests. Sessions are usually one-on-one, though I also teach two people at once; a preferred option for couples, friends, or parent and child. I can travel to your home or office, meet in a park or other comfortable space, or welcome you to my studio in Toronto.
I’m also open to bartering or creative exchanges. Some students even donate to their favourite charity in return for lessons, which feels like great karma all around. I believe there should be no barriers to learning, so I’m happy to negotiate a fee that works for you.
I also regularly teach Group Classes in studios across Toronto, Ontario, and ONLINE.

Philosophy
I practice and teach Kripalu yoga, a Hatha-based yoga lineage which emphasizes many of the ancient principles of yoga.
